NY LIONS ADAPTIVE BLIND BASEBALL VS CONNECTICUT CHARGERS

"The NY LIONS ADAPTIVE BLIND BASEBALL LEAGUE (NY LIONS TEAM) IS LOOKING FORWARD TO SHOWING THEIR ABILITY IN PLAYING A GAME THAT WAS ONLY FIT FOR SIGHTED PLAYERS - THEIR MOTTO IS “HOPE IS BELIEVING”.

The NY LIONS team was formed pre-Covid19 and is registered in the State of New York as a not-for-profit Corporation, with the intention to promote AIBXC form of baseball in the United States with the goal of creating more B4B Teams in the United States that eventually will enable this form of baseball take part in the Paralympic Games.

The NY LIONS team is looking forward to showing the game to the Franklin, Connecticut community when playing a match against Connecticut Chargers, a sighted baseball team organized by Joseph Landolphi, a senior at Parish Hill High School and a former SFC baseball player, who will be coaching the team he formed, as part of his Senior Year Capstone Project. Connecticut Bashers will be blindfolded when playing with NY LIONS' blind/visually impaired baseball team. Joseph Landolphi is a nice young man with great potential as a Leader in the field of baseball.

The NY LIONS team is a Branch of the Financial District Lions Club www.nyfidilions.org , a chapter of Lions Clubs International in New York. Vision is in LIONS’ DNA since Hellen Keller challenged Lions to help her in the crusade against Blindness and it is the Club’s main charity they support. The club financially support and manage the team, with the mission to bring the awareness to the Blind and Visually Impair Community in the United States, and in doing so, it cooperates with AIBXC in the formation of more teams in the US. There are presently two more teams in formation in the State of New York to start next year.

We are all grateful for the collaboration of Don Landolphi for his contribution in helping to promote this form of baseball in Connecticut, to the Franklin Recreation Commission, SFC Little League (Sprague, Scotland and Canterbury) and the Franklin Connecticut Lions Club and the New York State Fire Department for their contribution in providing two minibuses to transport the NY LIONS team to Franklin Connecticut, an over 3 hours’ drive from New York City.

LIONS “Lions Clubs International” www.lionsclubs.org was formed in June of 1917 two month after the United States enter into war, reason the name LIONS stands to Liberty, Intelligence, our Nations Safety. NY LIONS Team are proud to use the Lions name all are Lions members.
We are actively looking for retired Coaches to volunteer and coach the NY LIONS Team and take the responsibility to coach Teams in formation under AIBXC directives. "
