"Big things start small" and this is what the New York Financial District Lions Club* has been doing in support of AIBXC baseball in the United States, since we started pre-Covid-19 and formed the NY LIONS League.
On behalf of the NY Financial District Lions Club Board of Directors and its NY LIONS team I'd like to acknowledge some who made the Franklin Connecticut event possible, by starting first with Coach Don Landolphi, for his time and dedication to the NY LIONS team and giving his time to coach and run this great event; the Franklin Connecticut Lions Club for the beautiful baseball field they built that enabled this event take place, and for providing food and drinks for both teams; the Franklin Township Administration; the Fire Department of New York Family Assistance Unit for allowing us the use of two vehicles to transport the NY LIONS TEAM; the two Firefighters' Lieutenant Enrico Boletti and Chase who took their day off to drive us to Franklin, Ct. (it took over 3 hours driving from Manhattan to Franklin), and Robert and Joseph Landolphi for his great HS project, a real winner and his Team the Connecticut Chargers, and not to be forgotten, and finally Matt Finkel, the NBC Connecticut News reporter for the fine video presented and aired in the news about the game. And we cannot forget the NY Lion athletes and their Lions’ volunteers. "It took a Village, and together we all made it happen!”
* The New York Financial District Lions Club www.nyfidilions.org is a chapter of Lions Clubs International www.lionsclubs.org in the New York City Financial District whose players are members, thus they use the name of the Team as 'NY LIONS". Every Lions Clubs International has a charity they support, and our club has chosen to support the entrance and development of the Italian Adaptive Baseball for the Blind and Visually Impaired in the United States. Since we got involved pre-Covid-19 we have made great strides and have already two teams to be formed in the coming year, also by Lions Clubs.
